What’s your love story?
We actually lived across the road from each other in primary school but lost contact as life moved on. Then something like 17 years later we met up again on one of Chappy’s end of year cricket trips. I didn’t realise who he was at the time but when I told my Mum I had met this guy I really liked she knew exactly who it was and was rolling on the floor laughing at me when she reminded me haha. We have been together for 15 years this year and got married in Feb 2020 with our two daughters by our side only a couple of weeks before this covid disaster happened. We were so lucky to get in just beforehand!
How did you find the wedding planning process? Any tips and tricks you’d like to pass on to others trying to navigate wedding planning and Covid restrictions?
Oh wow we had everything that could go wrong did go wrong in the couple of months leading upto the big day.
Including our original glamping providers not having enough tents, Our reception area flooded the night before, let alone the cake falling over on the trip to the venue the day before. But I tell you even though the morning of our wedding it was pouring rain I woke up with this calmness I have never felt the day was here (I spent hours the night before fixing the cake haha) but all that mattered now was the fact I was finally marrying my best friend.
The rain made for amazing wedding photos, the wet and muddy dress meant PJ at my reception!
None of it mattered but me and my most important people celebrating our day.
So as stressful as it fees l bring it back to basics what is most important? Make that happen and who cares about the rest. I however was not trying to plan a wedding during a pandemic so I am no expert but that’s my advice to you.
What was most important to you to on your day?
I wanted a venue where we could stay for the weekend, I am a Mum and I am always a Mum so I wanted to really let my hair down for the first time and enjoy myself so we bunked the kids in with my Mum in her cabin so I could dance the night away (I totally would have paid a babysitter to come if I had too haha)
Tell us about:
The Ceremony and Reception Venue
Our venue was stunning, rolling hills in Noojee – Toorongo River Chalets we looked at so many places but this one took my breath away and it had all I wanted including accommodation on site. The staff who worked out evening were amazing and the food was out of this world and so much of it. The power went out for about 2 hours across the whole site (due to the storms) but we gathered all the candles around the venue and kept partying away since we couldn’t get onto the owners.
Dress & Suits
I wore a stunning Daughters of Simone dress I purchased from Amante Bridal in Warragul and the boys linen suits were from MJ Bale. The girls flowers girl dresses were from Arabella and Rose.
Favourite moment
Dancing in my PJ at my reception and celebrating the night/weekend with all my favourite people
